Goodwill West Texas is expanding its mission in Midland with a new CARF®-accredited Career Center that aims to empower individuals by providing free essential resources, career development and job placement services.
The Career Center is located in the Goodwill retail store at 4320 W. Illinois Ave. Staffed by two skilled employment and resource specialists, the center offers a wide range of services, including job search assistance, resume writing, interview training and career coaching. Additionally, the center offers access to computers, printers and the internet.
“The Midland community has supported our mission for years by donating goods and shopping in our retail stores,” said Chief Executive Officer Rick Waldraff. “Because of that support, we are proud to be able to expand our mission through our Career Center services.”
The Goodwill Career Center is open for anyone. There are no pre-requisites, qualifications or costs. The center and its services are funded by the sale of donated goods in Goodwill West Texas retail stores.
“We believe that jobs strengthen communities and that everyone should have the opportunity to work,” said Senior Director of Mission Services Danielle Robertson. “That’s why our team is committed to helping individuals of all backgrounds and abilities secure meaningful employment.”
The Midland Career Center is open now, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred and may also be made online at goodwillwtx.org/careercenter.
The Midland Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the Career Center Thursday, July 27 at 11:30 a.m. The community is invited to attend to learn more about the Career Center and its services.
